Immigration project reflection

Literature circle books/blogs

My experience with my LC book was good because I got to learn about a person personally and what he went threw to get to America and how was his life in America, For example if the person struggled a lot to have a steady life and what that person did in America. It was really interesting learning about the main character because I learned a lot of what a lot of immigrants went threw and how it is really hard to get used to the culture and language of a country that they have never bean before. I was ok with my LC book because some parts of the book was a lot of talking and some were interesting for example the main character would talk to himself and it would be long so it would be a little boring, but then it would get interesting when there is funny scenes or dramatic scenes so I was ok with my book.

A thing that I learned from my LC book is that you cant be lazy to post blog post and you have to put good information in it and not random things you found in the boo. A thing that I learned from the group is that your group has to do their work because if someone does not do their work then that person will be behind and so we can not post on their blog. The key lesson that I learned was to do your work so the rest of your group does not have to struggle because you did not do your blog. A thing that I would add to improve this activity would be more time in the blog and responses. I think blogging was a good idea then righting it because then you can get other people’s opinion and not just your groups opinion about it. I did not have any problems blogging because I did the same thing in 7th grade with Me. Interlandi for our LC. The thing that I learned about the way my peers were looking at and interpreting was that they put a lot of information in it and it was detailed and they talked about a specific part and did not talk about parts of the book.

Art and literature

The reason why I chose the painting I did to represent a scene from the book was because in my painting it showed the main character day dreaming himself rich and handsome in America, and this showed what the main character thought of it would be in America and how he would live in America. I think that there is a kind of easy connection made between my painting and the scene from the book because I don’t really think that the person who is looking at my painting will understand the painting really fast because the painting does not look like what I wanted it to look like, because it does not really look like the main character is day dreaming. If the viewer would think about it then they will understand the connection between the painting and the scene of the book.

I think my final product did not come out that good because the painting looked smudged and so I wished I can start over to make it more understandable and neater. I think if I had asked people for some advice in what I should change and asked for help to paint then my painting would have been a lot better. The thing that I learned from the LC novels with art was how you can use your imagination to make a plane cover into a exciting and awesome book cover and also how you can paint a scene and make it how ever you look if it relates to the scene.

Interview process with participant and gift

The interview process was calling the person one time, emailing them and finally meeting them in person. All of the interviews when really smoothly because the person I interviewed was really nice and cooperated and answered the questions really good and added information wile answering the question. The only difficulty in the interviewing process was that I would have been nervous interviewing the person.

I felt pressured and stressed about interviewing the person 3 times because I have never interviewed someone before and so I was nervous, But each time I interviewed my person I would be less nervouse and excited because he was very friendly and funny so each time I would interview him it was like a conversation and so it was awesome.

I had to make 8 questions for 2 of the interviews and for the in person interview it had to be 21 questions so I had to try to save question for the in person interview and that was hard because I had to ask good questions for the other interview. A thing that I found unique in all three of the interviews was that my person had something positive that happened to him for example he always had a job and he fulfilled his dream by coming to America, also he had a good life because he always had a job so he can support his family and himself.

I think interviewing a immigrant that came to America is really good for the subject that we are learning right now because you are getting information from a person who experience it and they are telling you their story of their journey to America and how their life was in America from when they barely got to America and how their life is now. I think giving my gift that I made to my person will be really exciting because I put a lot of time in this painting and I think that it is a really good painting because it represents his culture and in the the painting it also showed America because that was the country that my person went to start a new and better life.
