Farewell to Manzanar
Hello my name is Luis and I am going to review the book Farewell to Manzanar. The book that I have recently read was Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and James D. Houston. I liked this book because it was a book that always made me want to know what is going to happen next. I think people 12 and up should read this book because of the length and because how it is when the Japanese were hated after Pearl Harbor during the war. 
The story is about a girl named Jeanne telling her story of what happened to her and her family in the internment camp and the conditions that she was in. Some conditions that they went through was no one had no privacy, it was filthy. This book is also about the struggles that she and her family went through.
It starts off with her father going out to sea to go fishing, but while Jeanne is looking at them float away in the vast dusk of the ocean, Jeanne realizes that they are not disappearing and it seemed like they are coming back and then little by little they get bigger and bigger.
When they get back her father runs in their house and graves all their Japanese possessions like their Japanese flag and other valuable stuff and he get a bucket and put all the stuff in their and he starts burning it. Then a person says the Japanese are bombing Pearl Harbor. When I read this part I really wanted to know what would happen after Pearl Harbor was bombed. For example I wanted to know if the soldiers in pearl harbor would come and take all the Japanese men for questioning so I was really anxious to see what will happen next. The year that Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese was December 7, 1941 and the president in 1941 was named Franklin Roosevelt. On January 6 President Roosevelt told his Four freedoms speech.


So I think people should read this book because people can see what happened inside of the internment camp and what people did while they were in them and also because this book is pretty awesome and you will really like the book. The reason why you would like it is because it is mind boggling and you would always want to keep on reading the book because you want to know what will happen and what will the ending be.
I think that people would this book because there was a lot of drama and so that would make people wonder about what is going to happen next and so that would make people want to read the book even more.
I give this book an 8 out of 10.

CHAPTER 13

Chapter 13 10/11/08

After the little ones stopped sobbing the officer named Johnny looked at everyone like they were crazy. Then Johnny told the boys to go in the little boat, when the boys set foot on the little boat that will go to a naval ship, Jack pulls Ralph to the end of the line and Jack graves Ralph’s shoulder with belligerence pull and says “Don’t mention anything about Piggy or Simon,” Ralph susurration.
Once they got in the little boat they started heading towards the naval boat and Jack was staring at Ralph malevolently.
When they got to the naval ship they starting climbing a rope thing and when they set foot they felt safe.
While they were on the boat that was heading to England Jack was looking at Ralph malevolently to remember Ralph to not to mention anything about Piggy and Simon. So then Johnny started talking to us about how the war is going and while he was talking about that stuff Ralph noticed that Jack and Roger were missing.
So then Ralph got up and started looking for them and Ralph herd people talk and Ralph did not know who it was so then Ralph went towards the kitchen and Ralph herd Jack say to get knifes and any weapon that they find because they are going to take over the ship. Ralph knew that Jack and Roger were going to be embroiled. So then Ralph was about to leave to tell Sam and Erick but then Ralph bumped into a bunch of utensils in a cart, Jack and Roger herd Ralph and when Ralph saw Jack and Roger with knifes in both hands Ralph was tow and he started running were Johnny was and he told Johnny
“Jack and Roger are going to kill me they have knifes”. Johnny had vicissitudes because Ralph was speaking fast and with horror and Ralph said it again and Johnny was shocked. Then when Jack and Roger got their with their knifes Johnny tried to figure out what was happening, they said “were going to take over this boat”.
Johnny stared at them for a little bit and started to laugh because that was so ridicules and then Jack ran up to Johnny and staved him and Johnny fell to the ground and he went towards the wall and pulled the alarm and Jack kept staving him and Johnny died.
Then Jack tried to stave Ralph truculently but he missed and Ralph and Sam and Erick and the little ones started running to the captain but when they got their they saw the captain dead. Ralph says “we have to find a ship member to be safe or go to a safe place”. So then they start running out side and they se two ship members running and the kids start running towards them and ask them for help and they ask what happened and they say “two of the other kids are killing everybody and they killed Johnny and the captain” and both of the ship members faces are pale and then they say “we have to go where the captain is to drive this boat because right now no one is driving the ship and we can barricade our self’s in their but we have to tell the other crew members what has happened”.
So then Ralph, Sam and Erick and the little ones go where the captain is and when they got their they saw Jack and Roger their and they look out the window and they are heading towards a giant Rock but Jack and Roger are blocking the controls and then it was to late and they crash right into the rock and the ship starts to sink and Ralph goes in the water and he sees Piggy and Simon floating in the water and everyone dies.
